About Me

Maya Smith is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in psychology and journalism. Her research is focused on child development and later interactions with individuals' environments.

Patience and perseverance are both virtues that Maya values, in and out of the workplace. She volunteers with the University of Texas chapter of GIVE volunteers and is a part of the Deaf Culture Alliance club.

Maya wants to be an advocate for children’s mental health, directly through the development of mental health programs, and indirectly through publications advocating for continued awareness.

“I have learned that people will forget what you said, forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
